This is WHY we do what we do

The mission of Box of Balloons is to spread a little kindness and celebration into the lives of all children.

Recently, our Portage, WI chapter received a birthday box request from the American Family Children's Hospital in Madison. Sweet Jackson just turned five and requested a Thomas the Train 5th Birthday Party.

When Box of Balloons receives a birthday box request, a sign up form is sent to the members of that local chapter. Volunteers sign up to provide decorations, party games, basic supplies like plates/napkins, party favors, cupcakes, and a gift for the child. The supplies are collected and packed into a birthday box. The box is delivered to the family to celebrate their child's birthday!

The Portage chapter volunteers got right to work with a fun Thomas the Train birthday box! Here's a peek at what was inside!

When you volunteer to help fill a box, you can be as creative or as simple as you wish! I helped to fill this birthday box by making some party favors! I ordered the supplies for these conductor hats, bandannas, and train whistles from Oriental Trading. I rolled the hat and the train whistle in the bandanna. Finally, I attached these simple thank you tags! You can grab a copy of the tag by using this link to create these party favors for yourself!

One of the most rewarding parts of volunteering with Box of Balloons is knowing that you brightened a family's day! The Portage chapter received this adorable thank you card from Jackson and his family after the party!

This is why we do what we do!
